SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No one onboard a Springfield Public Schools bus was injured this morning when the vehicle collided with a car at Republic Road and Golden Avenue, according to a school spokesman.
The bus was carrying one special-needs student, a nurse and the driver at the time of the collision, about 8:30 a.m. Teresa Bledsoe, school spokeswoman, said an ambulance responded to the scene, but no one on the bus required treatment.
Police spokeswoman Lisa Cox said the accident occurred when the driver of the bus didn’t break soon enough to avoid bumping the car turning right in front of him. The driver of the car had a pre-existing medical condition, but no one required transportation by emergency responders.
The incident is under investigation and it is undetermined at this time whether citations will be issued, Cox said.
