(Springfield, MO) -- Missouri State Highway Patrol started the morning off with a chase through Springfield.
According to Highway Patrol, troopers attempted to pull over a car for a lane violation on Sunshine St. just west of National Avenue early Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m.
The car failed to stop and the chase began. Troopers followed the car through several city streets.
The car was stopped by spike strips that deflated the tires. The chase ended near Glenstone Ave. south of Cherry St.
Troopers say the driver of the car, David J. Ritchie, 59, of Springfield was arrested for driving under the influence.
Authorities say both Ritchie, and the passenger, Frankie, J. Godino Jr., 21, of Springfield were in possession of drugs, enough to be suspected of having the intent to distribute.
Both men are being held in Greene County Jail with no bond. Authorities say both men had felony warrants for their arrests.
