Missouri Man Drowns in Current River Sunday Afternoon

RIPLEY COUNTY, Mo. -- A man from Chaffee, Missouri drowns during a floating and camping trip on the Current River Sunday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Jeremy Evans drowned Sunday afternoon on the river in Ripley County, after jumping off a rock into the river.

Witnesses told Patrol officers Evans started to struggle and went under the water.  He never resurfaced.

The Ripley County Fire and Rescue team helped water patrol units at the scene.
