Demonstrators Storm the Missouri Capitol

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo- Missouri lawmakers left the capitol yesterday for a week-long spring break  and with the echoes of discontent ringing in their ears.

"what do we want?  Medicaid!  When do we want it?  Now!"

Dozens of demonstrators marched and chanted through the hallways  yesterday morning....  calling for expanded Medicaid, criminal justice changes, and other social reforms. That was followed by a rally in the capitol rotunda.

"They say they have a super majority.  But we have faith on our side.  And we're here today, and we're gonna come back ...And we're gonna come back ...And we're going to come back,"said Rev. Rodney Williams of Missouri Faith Voices.

These demonstrators say lawmakers have spent the first half of the legislative session putting politics before people. They point to the priority given to issues like voter photo identification and constitutional protections for people who refuse to provide services for same-sex marriages.
