The Fourth Annual City-Wide Tire Toss is held at Hillcrest High School from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 2.
Waste tires will be accepted at no charge and then recycled into rubber playground mulch.
Getting rid of tires is important for the health of community because it eliminates a popular breeding ground for mosquitoes. This in turn helps reduce the spread of the West Nile virus.
Tires will only be accepted by residents of Springfield.
