(St. Louis, Mo.) -- Tonight the Cardinals will either go to Philadelphia, or begin the long process of answering questions they don't want to answer.
Will Albert Pujols be a St. Louis Cardinals after tonight? Will Tony LaRussa stay on as manager?
Obviously, the Cardinals would rather push those questions to a later date with a series-tying win over the Phillies.
Edwin Jackson will throw for St. Louis. The 28-year old righty has been strong, with the exception of a start in Milwaukee, since being traded to the Cardinals. But like they did in Game 3, the Cardinals throw an inexperienced postseason performer, against a seasoned October veteran.
Jackson had three appearances for Tampa in 2008. He threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the Rays against the Red Sox in the ALCS, then gave up a run in two innings in Game 4 of the World Series.
That was against eventual champ Philadelphia.
Roy Oswalt starts for Charlie Manuel on Wednesday night.
The 34-year old righty is 5-1 in postseason play, with a 3.39 ERA, in 12 appearances, 10 of which were starts.
But Oswalt missed all of July 2011 with a back injury, going 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 23 starts this season.
