Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott says Khighla Parks was last seen walking her near her home off Highways AB and EE in northwest Greene County.
The Benton Bounty Sheriff says her body was weighted down. The very broad physical descrption they gave of the body was a woman between the ages of 13 and 20 who is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with dark hair.
Khighla Parks is 15 years old and 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown hair.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol forensics lab was working to identify the body.
DNA analysis confirmed it was Parks, according to the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
Greene County was asked by Benton County if they had any missing people fitting the description of the woman found in Truman Lake.
The grandmother of Khighla Parks said her family were waiting to hear the identity of the woman found in the lake, and they were praying that it was not Khighla. Greene County says they are holding out hope.
Maj. Phil Corcoran with the Greene County Sheriff's Office said Thurdsday that there are 40 other cases in which the missing person fits that of the woman found in Truman Lake.
While we aware of this information earlier, KOLR10/KOZL News waited to confirm, absolutely, with law enfocement that Khighla's family here in Missouri and out of state were notified before we released it. Now, the family and law enforcement need your help in solving the homicide case.
Maj. Corcoran with the Greene County Sheriff's Department says even if the information seems insignificant to you it may not be.
