Branson Resident is Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting at Buffalo River

YELLVILLE, Ark. -- The man shot dead in an officer-involved shooting Aug. 20 near the Buffalo River has been identified as Jonathan Bolger, 44, of  Branson, Missouri.

A press release from the Buffalo National River says officers on foot patrol in the area encountered Bolger with a handgun. Officers then commanded for Bolger to drop the gun, he refused and was shot.

There is an ongoing investigation led by the National Park Service/Investigative Services Branch and Office of Professional Responsibility.  Searcy County Sheriff's Office and Arkansas State Police are also contributing to the investigation.

No further information will be released at this time as the incident remains under investigation.
