BRANSON, Mo. -- A passerby comes to the aid of three men on Lake Taneycomo after a boating accident just below the Table Rock Dam Tuesday night.
The Western Taney County Fire Protection District says the accident happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday, near the Fish Hatchery.
A witness tells KOLR10 News the men were fishing and attempting to untangle a line, when their boat flipped in the swift waters.
The water level was at it’s highest point because the Corps of Engineers has just released water through the dam.
A witness says after the boat flipped it got caught in a nearby tree. The witness says two men were able to hang onto the tree, while the third man was swept downstream.
Western Taney County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mike Schultz says while his department was bringing up a rescue boat, a passerby picked up the men.
"We don't have many boats that are up this far at night," say Shultz. "So it was huge that the could be out where they could get a hold of them and taken them to shore."
Shultz says after the third man was picked up, he was taken to a boat ramp where his department performed CPR for a period of time.
Shultz says the man is in his 50s and was transported to an area hospital.
There is no word on his condition at this time..
