Bikers Pedal 3,000 Miles for Alzheimers, Stop in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- These people are spending 13 days on a bike.

They're riding more than 3,000 miles from San Francisco, California to Tampa Bay, Florida.

That's what the men taking part in the "Ride to Remember" bike ride are facing, all in an effort to support the estimated 5.5 million people in the U.S. with Alzheimers.

They're almost there, too.

Today was day nine and they stopped right here in Springfield.

They were obiviously tired, but no less excited about their mission, and the fact that they're just days away from finishing it.

All of these riders have in some way been touched by Alzheimers, which is what pushes them to keep pushing those pedals.

"We just know that there are many many other families out there that are affected in the same way and going through the same struggles and wanted to be able to share that and get those stories out there so other people can be aware," Greg O'Connor, team captain, said.
