AVA, Mo. – An Ava man is in jail after an early morning stabbing incident in Douglas County.

According to Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, a 31-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times Tuesday morning and hospitalized. A female who tried to intervene in the incident sustained a minor cut and puncture wound, but did not seek medical attention.

An arrest warrant was soon issued for Thomas D .Hearin, 28, of Ava, for six felony charges related to the incident. He was later found hiding under a pickup truck almost a mile from the scene and arrested.

Hearin was charged with three counts of armed criminal action, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree domestic assault.

Bond has been set at $75,000 cash only.

Degase says the victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering.
