Man Charged After Fatal Shooting in Phelps County

ROLLA, Mo. -- Prosecutors have charged 60-year-old David Lundin, of Rolla, with first-degree murder and other charges after the fatal shooting in Rolla Thursday night. 

According to online court documents, Lundin has been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and theft.


One man is dead and another is in custody, following a fatal shooting southwest of Rolla Thursday night.

The Phelps County Sheriff's Department says the body of Richard R. Finnell, 57, was found at a house on Private Drive 7136, after deputies got a 9-1-1 call just before 5:30 pm.
Finnell had an apparent gunshot wound, but an autopsy will be done to confirm the cause of death.

According to the Sheriff's Department, deputies began looking for a 60 year old man from Rolla, based on information deputies got at the shooting scene.  Witnesses said they saw the man walking down the road with a gun.

The man was found just after 8:30 pm after someone called deputies about a man carrying a gun on Winchester Drive in Rolla.   He was arrested by Rolla police and is in the Phelps County jail, pending formal charges.  In keeping with KOLR10 news policies, the suspect is not being named because he has not been charged with a crime in this case.
