PLEASANT HOPE, Mo. – Firefighters battled a large grass fire resulting from a controlled burn that got out of hand on Friday on Farm Rd. 153, north of Hwy CC.

The fire is under control now, but earlier it jumped the road in several places and even threatened a home.

Five fire departments responded to the fire and about 50 personnel were on scene.

Firefighters say its important to watch for red flag warnings in your area and with the humidity, wind, and dryness of the ground people really shouldn't do any kind of burning until there's rain.

“Everybody is really good about putting red flag warnings out and when there are dry conditions like this,” says Fair Grove Fire Chief Mark Raymond. “We don't want anybody burning and windy conditions right now. We are all over. About all of Greene County is out fighting grass fires right now."
