SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Interested not-for-profit organizations will be required to attend a mandatory question and answer session to apply for funds from the returned tax proceeds from the Wonders of Wildlife (WOW), according to a statement from the City of Springfield.

In 2011, WOW terminated their grant agreement and agreed to forego receipt of all Hotel-Motel Tax proceeds.

The Hotel/Motel Tax Reallocation Committee will hold two sessions for applications to attend.

Applicants can choose one of the two sessions. One will be Thursday, May 8 at and the other will be Thursday, May 15.  Both sessions will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Creamery Arts Center at 411 N. Sherman Pkwy.

The funds available are for capital grants to Springfield not-for-profit organizations that promote tourism, recreation, education and local economy.

Interested applicants can download application criteria and an initial letter of intent form on the City of Springfield website prior to the meeting.

The sessions will review the history of the tax funds and the application criteria, and will be followed by a question and answer session.
