"The last couple of years have not been good enough," said Reid Monday. "I take responsibility for the all of the 14 years. I understand we need to start at the bottom and work our way up. Bring in a good staff and do what's important."
Reid says he did not hesitate to take over the Hunt family's franchise.
"There are certain families that stand out in the NFL. And the Hunt family is one of them. It's phenomenal. I can't wait to get started."
"It was fun to talk football with him," said Hunt. "He's humble and honest a proven winner."
Andy Reid did say in the news conference that he's not going to pick a general manager. It's Clark Hunt's decision, but he will have some input.
Reid posted a 130-93-1 record with the Eagles in his only previous head coaching position. He has a 10-9 playoff record, and appeared in five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl, a loss to the New England Patriots. He was named AP Coach of the Year in 2002.
Reid's deal is reportedly for five seasons. He replaces former coach Romeo Crennel, who was also fired on Dec. 31.
