7 Semi Trucks, Other Vehicles Collide on Snow-Slick I-44

WEBSTER COUNTY, Mo. -- A crash involving seven tractor-trailers and several other vehicles snarled Interstate 44 in both directions for hours on Sunday. 

The crash happened before noon at mile marker 96. The east and west lanes were all closed while crews cleared the wreckage. 

No one was hurt in the crash, but many drivers were stuck for more than three hours. 

Other crashed kept traffic at a standstill between Springfield and Marshfield westbound I-44, at mile marker 111, Webster County, between Marshfield and Conway.

Officials ask anyone who must travel to slow down, use caution, and consider pulling off and finding shelter until the highway reopens.

MoDOT is urging against travel throughout the duration of this winter storm. Continuous snowfall is keeping roads covered, and gusty winds and extreme low temperatures increase the danger of being stranded on the side of the road.
