Baxter County officials reported that the DEA Prescription Drug Take-Back initiative was successful in the area.
During the four hour event a steady stream of cars came by the drop off location in front of the Staples Store in Mountain Home and dropped of old medications along with food items and donations to the Food Bank.
Sheriff Investigator Brad Hurst, Coroner Elect, Brad Hays along with Mary Jo McLean from the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas were on hand to greet people and answer questions.
1199 pounds of unwanted, or expired prescription drugs were turned into the DEA for disposal in Baxter County.
Approximately 750 meals with monetary donations to the food bank along with over 100 pounds of non-perishable food items were donated.
