KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The tallest water slide in the world is set to open in Kansas City today.

The 17-story "Verruckt" at the Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City is even taller than Niagara Falls.

The slide's name translates  to "insane" in German.

The slide is just over 168-feet tall and riders will have to climb 264 steps to get to the top.

The ride can reach speeds of up to 65 miles-per-hour.

The official launch date of the water slide was delayed three times as it underwent more testing and rebuilding.
