Get Your Barbeque On This Weekend in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Rock'n Ribs, Springfield's premiere barbeque event, is back for it's 15th year - this weekend.

The Rotary Clubs of Springfield host the annual BBQ Festival, which benefits 7 area charities.

75 teams are entered in this year's competition, barbequing an estimated 14,000 pounds of meat. 

Public sampling starts at 1pm Saturday at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds.  A party for sponsors and competitors happens tonight to kick off the festival.

Rock’n Ribs has distributed $1,307,000 to children’s charities in the area over the 15 years.

This year, charities that will get proceeds from the event are:  Proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Town of Missouri, Ronald McDonald House Charities-Mobile Dental Unit, Ozark Trails Council - Boy Scouts of America, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Harmony House, Ozarks Regional YMCA and The Good Samaritan Boys Ranch.
