This is the 52nd year for Tent Theatre, which opens every year behind Craig Hall in the southeast corner of Missouri State University’s campus. The venue offers a wide selection of entertainment through June and July.
Here's the lineup for Tent Theatre 2014:
June 11-14, June 16-21
Relive the popular, 1950s style music of close-harmony, male groups like The Four Aces and The Four Freshman with this off-Broadway musical revue. The music is shared through the story of The Plaids - a group of high school friends who dreamed of recording an album.
June 26-July 3
You Can't Take It With You
This 1937 Pulitzer Prize winning comedic show tells the story of the large, eccentric Vanderhof/Sycamore/Carmichael household where everyone does just what he or she pleases. Turmoil arises when the daughter of the Sycamores, Alice, falls for the aristocratic, business-focused Kirby’s son, Tony.
July 9-12, July 14-20
Fiddler on the Roof
Join us in commemorating the 50th year of this classic show. The musical tells the story of Tevye, a father of five girls, and his attempts to keep his family aligned with Jewish traditions, despite outside influences. This proves to be difficult with his strong-willed older daughters.
Tickets for the three Tent Theatre productions are $14 and $22 for adults; $12 and $20 for seniors, students and children; and $10 and $19 for Missouri State faculty, staff and students. Season tickets are $34 and $60 for adults; and $29 and $55 for seniors, students and children. Group rates are also available.
Patrons may also purchase a show-themed picnic 48 hours in advance of the performance. Meals are served from 7-7:45 p.m., and the proceeds support the Tent Theatre scholarship fund.
