The summer movie season is winding down, but three new releases make their debut this weekend.  Chris the Critic from the Missouri Film Alliance previews "The Expendables 3", "The Giver", and "Boyhood.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 - I've got to tell you a bit of juice about the huge cast of this action fest.  Bruce Willis was set to reprise his role from the 2nd flick, but, Stallone said he wanted too much money, so that's why we sadly ended up with Harrison Ford.  Jackie Chan was offered a supporting role, but, wanted a lead role, so, he's not in the film.  Mel Gibson was offered the option to direct the film as well as play the villain, but declined.  And, ALSO, while shooting an action scene in a truck, Jason Statham, almost suffered a fatality when the trucks brakes failed.
THE GIVER - Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep stars in this film about a perfect community, with no war, pain or suffering, differences or choice, a young boy is chosen to learn about the "real" world.
In Springfield, FINALLY, BOYHOOD - This is the GENIUS concept for e a movie by director Richard Linklater, following the life of a young man from 5 years old to 18 years old.  This is a long-y at nearly 3 hours.

TMNT beat out GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!  The Turtles weren't bad, not FANTASTIC, but, not bad … but, GUARDIANS is actually, really, REALLY good!
THE MUPPETS MOST WANTED -  This Muppet movie is decent … not  NEARLY as good as the first Muppet movie.

There are a couple weeks left of the outdoor movies at Founders Park!  Tomorrow it's FREE WILLY! You know, after the original release of FREE WILLY, $20 million was donated to Save the Whales.   And, Saturday it's SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE … this is the second of three movies that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in together!  See for ALL the details and how to get free tix!
