What It Takes For Spring and Summer Athletes To Be P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

As spring and summer sports seasons start to wind up, all the pressure from early recruiters and coaches can cause athletes to strive to be perfect.

Kids and young adults are involved with competitive sports now more than ever. Parents add to that pressure by seeking much of their own status from the performance of their kids. This can lead to the athlete's increased psychological stress, increased rates of injury and burnout.

Dr. Stephen Graef, sports psychologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center created the acronym "P.E.R.F.E.C.T." to help put the fun back into sports (and life!) and help curb an athlete's anxiety about always being number one.

PERFECT is a way for athletes to remember to stay positive:

P - Positive self talk E - Embrace Adversity R - Reverse Engineer F - Focus on the Now E - Evolve C - Chill Out T - Talk It Out
