I attended college at Mississippi State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Meteorology. If you ever wonder why I don't have much of an accent, it's because my dad's from Iowa.
I've spent most of my life traveling through the Ozarks, first visiting relatives in Iowa, and then after college during my time as chief meteorologist at 6 News in Lawrence, KS. That's where I developed a real love for this part of the country and of its weather and people.
I always knew this was I place I wanted to be, so after nine years as the morning meteorologist in Jacksonville, FL, I jumped at the chance to come back to the Ozarks to get back to seasons and some of the wildest weather in the country.
I spent some time in college as a storm spotter and also made trips into the Plains to do some chasing. I look forward to doing some of that here. In addition to weather, I've enjoyed playing and coaching soccer. I also enjoy fishing, and in general, I just like being outdoors when I can.
If you ever have a question or comment I'd love to hear from you. Drop me a line on Facebook or email me at JWarriner@ozarkslocal.tv .
