David Oliver

Hello friends. Thanks for choosing KOLR10 News and welcoming me into your home each night. It's a privilege to bring you the news and be part of our community.

I've been with KOLR10 since December 2003. I've anchored our weeknight evening newscasts at 5, 6, 9 and 10 o'clock and covered a lot of big, life changing stories during that time. I was one of the first reporters on the scene within two hours of the Joplin tornado. That was a night I will never forget. I also traveled to the gulf coast to report on the Ozarks response to hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Lighter moments in the reporting realm include trips to the World Series in 2004 to cover the St. Louis Cardinals, and again in 2014 and 2015 to cover the Kansas City Royals. One of my greatest reporting passions at KOLR has been "Oliver's Ozarks". These fun reports about unique people and places around the Ozarks are among some of my fondest memories of stories I’ve brought you.

Prior to Springfield I was a weeknight evening anchor for KTVB in Boise Idaho, and a reporter and weeknight anchor for WIBW in Topeka Kansas. I cut my teeth, so to speak, in Topeka and learned a lot about what it means to practice quality journalism. In Boise, I anchored the newscast that won the first ever regional EMMY Award in Idaho, and I was honored by the Idaho Press Association with a first place award for Series Reporting. In 2015 the Missouri Broadcasters Association honored "Oliver’s Ozarks" with a certificate of Merit. And in 2015, I was honored to receive an EMMY award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in the "Team Coverage" category for our reports we titled "Courageous Conversations".

I was born and raised in Wichita Kansas and attended both the University of Kansas and Wichita State University. I was lucky to get a foot in the door at KAKE TV in Wichita during my high school and college years. I did a lot of things at KAKE from behind the scenes to on-air work.

The two greatest loves of my life are my daughter and my son. We enjoy swimming and anything outdoors in the summer, and movies and cooking in the winter. Having children really changed the way I approach my job as a journalist, allowing me to see how stories affect them.

I've made some of the greatest friends of my life while living in Springfield and working at KOLR10. I've been honored to work with some of the greatest broadcasters in the business. I sincerely thank our viewers for their support over the years. Please feel free to contact me if you have any story ideas or suggestions on how we can provide you with an even better newscast.
